Two held for illegal railway e-ticket sales

Two men were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in separate raids at Jogeshwari on Monday for unauthorised sale of railway tickets.

Mumbai: Two men were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in separate raids at Jogeshwari on Monday for unauthorised sale of railway tickets.
Acting on specific information, a team from the Andheri RPF cracked down on Krishna Tours on the Link Road around 2 pm. Rajesh Tiwari, 38, a Behrambaug resident, was taken into custody. He admitted to using fake personal log-ins for booking e-tickets for passengers and charging them a premium of Rs 200 to 300 per ticket.
The RPF seized 15 tickets worth Rs 19,426, a cellphone, a computer, Rs 650 in cash and 17 used tickets worth Rs 22,999 from Tiwari.
Around 6.15 pm, Andheri RPF raided Bright Tours at Behrambaug and nabbed Mohseen Ali Hussain, 26. Hussain too was using fake personal log-ins for booking e-tickets for passengers at a premium. He lived in the same neighbourhood where he ran his shop. Three-tickets worth Rs 3,224, a cellphone, a computer, an IRCTC licence, a dongle, eight used tickets worth Rs 24,136 and Rs 510 in cash were seized from Hussain.
Both men were booked under provisions of the Railways Act. Andheri RPF outpost alone has recorded 87 cases of unauthorised sale of tickets within the span of a year, officials said, and are set to create a record of sorts in the Indian Railways.
