BAREILLY: Muslim Rashtravadi Sewak Sangh, a social organisation whose main work so far is to hoist the Tricolour in madrassas, mosques and other religious functions, has demanded the establishment of a Muslim regiment in the Indian Army. The members of the organisation claimed on Monday that a few organisations in India still look at Muslims as terrorists, and hence it wants that a child from each Muslim family should serve the Indian Army.
During their first interaction with the media, Mohammed Khalid, president of the organisation, said, “There are a few organisations who consider Indian Muslims as terrorists, but we are creating awareness among people that Muslims are patriotic. We carry the national flag during Muharram processions, and we have been hoisting the Tricolour at madrassas, mosques and religious functions. We had even hit the streets to celebrate the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the LoC.”
“We demand the setting up of a Muslim regiment so that members from the minority community can serve the Indian Army. A member from each Muslim family will be more than willing to sacrifice his/her life for the protection of the country,” he added.
When asked about the difference between the Muslim Rashtravadi Sewak Sangh and the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, Khalid, who is also former deputy mayor, said, “RSS do not believe in hoisting the national flag while it is our primary work. Our name may sound similar but we are two different organisations. We have no connection with any political outfit and we are not going to endorse any political party.”
Formed nearly one-and-a-half-years back, Muslim Rashtravadi Sewak Sangh today has nearly 5,000 members.
