Fire at Jessop factory, third in a week

Fire at Jessop factory, third in a week
KOLKATA: Just days after the police registered two cases after two separate fires broke out at the Jessop factory, another fire – the third one since Nabami during Durga Puja - was reported from the same factory premises on Monday evening. Five fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. The police said that they are investigating the repeated incidents of fire within factory premises.
The present workers of Jessop though have alleged lack of supervision and hinted at sabotage behind the repeated fires.
“It is clear that it is a planned attempt to ensure that Jessop is shut for ever and the property can be sold to real estate sharks. How can there be two fires – one on Nabami and the other Dadoshi – in such a short span of time? Just when the police were trying to collect forensic evidence, you have a third fire two days after Laxmi Puja. We are asking all concerned persons to come forward and save this company,” claimed an union leader who said that workers’ dispensary and furniture are being targeted on gate 28.
