LUCKNOW: BSP chief
Mayawati on Monday said that the decision of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP to construct `Ramayan Sangrahalay' and `Ramleela theme park', respectively, was driven by their
politics of
religion.
Mayawati accused the
BJP and
SP of deliberately announcing the projects to gain political mileage in the forthcoming UP assembly elections.
"If they had the right intention, any such project should have started much before,'' she said.
The former UP chief minister also demanded that the disputed site in Ayodhya not be affected by the proposed projects since the issue is pending before the high court.
The BSP boss, meanwhile, attacked the SP government of proposing projects like the low cost housing for the poor, which it will not be able to complete before the assembly elections. Likewise, the decision to give increased honorarium for Madarsa teachers too has come very late, Mayawati said.
