Baba Ramdev to publish his autobiography next year

The book will take us through Ramdev's early life, spirituality, passion for yoga, swadeshi principles, health, setting up of Patanjali, dreams, ambitions as well as controversies.

One of the leading faces to popularise Yoga both at national and international level, renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev has decided to pen down his autobiography. He will be releasing the book titled - Being Baba Ramdev - next year.

As per report, the book will take us through Ramdev's early life, spirituality, passion for yoga, swadeshi principles, health, setting up of Patanjali, dreams, ambitions as well as controversies.

The book will be published by Penguin Books India that made an announcement about the upcoming project on October 13. According to the official release by the publisher, the Yoga guru said, "A lot has been written about me by other people in the media. Now with my autobiography I will share with you the story of my life in my own words. I am delighted that Uday Mahurkar has agreed to write the book and that Milee Ashwarya from Penguin Random House India will be publishing it."

Baba Ramdev is the man behind India's largest Ayurvedic brand Patanjali which has, for the last few years, upset the dominance of few multinational corporations in India. With heavy investments in multiple brands in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), Patanjali is turning out to be one of the biggest threats to leading foreign brands.

Baba Ramdev autobiography likely to draw a lot of readers as the Yoga guru has a massive following through yoga.

However, he is not the first yogi or sadhu to write an autobiography. There are many names in spiritual and religious world who have left remarkable imprint on humans lives through their spiritual journey.
 
Baba Rampuri

BOOK : Autobiography of a Sadhu: A Journey into Mystic India

Baba Rampuri, born as William A Gans on July 14, 1950, is an American born Sadhu. He claims to be the first westerner to become a Naga Sadhu.

Rampuri is the author of the 2010 book Autobiography of a Sadhu: A Journey into Mystic India. The book was originally published in 2005 as Baba: Autobiography of a Blue-Eyed Yogi, which was translated into German, Russian, Czech, Croatian, and Serbian.

Baba Rampuri was initiated into the religious order - Naga Sannyasi - after traveling to India on a spiritual quest from his native California in 1969. He was just 18 at the time.  From drinking the "nectar of Immortality" at the source of the Ganges River to allegations of tantric murder, his autobiography is filled with true accounts of magic, miracles, ghosts, and austerity, with lessons on Hindu gods, ayurveda, mantra, and Indian culture woven throughout.

Paramahansa Yogananda

Yogananda was born Mukunda Lal Ghosh in Gorakhpur, India, into a Bengali family. Autobiography of a Yogi introduces the reader to the life of Paramahansa Yogananda and his encounters with spiritual figures of both the East and the West.

The book begins with his childhood family life, to finding his guru, to becoming a monk and establishing his teachings of Kriya Yoga meditation. The book continues in 1920 when Yogananda accepts an invitation to speak in a religious congress in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

He then travels across America lecturing and establishing his teachings in Los Angeles California. In 1935 he returned to India for a year-long visit. When he goes back to America, he continues to establish his teachings, including writing this book.

Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath

Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He experienced spontaneous meditations at the age of three and was later blessed by some of the world's most enlightened personalities. Yogiraj was believed to be a realized master of the perennial Yogic sciences of India.

Om Swami

BOOK:  If Truth Be Told: A Monk's Memoir
Published in 2014 by HarperCollins India

Om Swami was born in a Brahmin family in North India. Showing deep inclination towards spirituality from an early age, Swami studied a range of Vedic and astrological texts, eventually becoming a professional astrologer during his teen years.

Quitting his job as a part-time editor for a weekly business newspaper, he left for Australia to pursue tertiary education and later acquired Australian citizenship. After years of living the good life, he found he could no longer ignore the old restlessness; worldly pleasures just couldn't fill the void within. He moved back to India and finally did what he had always yearned to do: renounce the world and become a monk.

If Truth Be Told: A Monk's Memoir is his self-written memoir. The book was listed as number 6 in the top 10 non fiction books in the country as reported by The Financial Express. This is a memoir of the making of a spiritual life in today's challenging and often confusing times.
