New Ford Figo 10,000 KMs Service Report

New Ford Figo

Since the launch of the Figo in 2010, Ford India has been working hard to lower the cost of ownership of its cars.

It’s been over a month now with the new Ford Figo, and we have done over 2,500 km on almost all kinds of roads Rajasthan could offer. With this, the hatchback has completed its 10,000km (we got it at around 7,500 km). And it was the time for its 10,000Km periodic maintenance service (PMS) that gave us an opportunity to cross check Ford’s claim of offering ‘lowest maintenance cost’ in the category. And believe me I was totally surprised with the overall experience and, of-course the shredded bill. In a nut shell, it’s quite easy on pocket than ever before.

Since the launch of the Figo in 2010, Ford India has been working hard to lower the cost of ownership of its cars. With an aim to reduce its ownership cost, the American carmaker introduced ‘Happy Pocket Service’ across all its dealerships in 2014. This initiative includes a total of seven services (car wash, report card check, replacement of oil filter, usage of semi-synthetic engine oil, sump gasket, Ford genuine spare parts and labours charges) start at fixed price of Rs 2,199.

In the same year, the carmaker had also started over-the-counter sales of spare parts. In late 2015, the carmaker launched a ‘Service Price Promise’ that enables customers calculate the Periodic Maintenance Service cost of their cars. Using this tool, one can get a printout of regular service quotation and ensure transparency in their Ford Service experience at any dealership. So we took a print out of the same thing before going to the service station, by adding simply the car model and the number of KMs it has done. As per the Ford Service Price Promise, the total cost for the 1 Year/10000km interval service was Rs 1703 including taxes.

New Ford Figo Service Cost

Ford’s Scheduled Service Plan (SSP) includes periodical maintenance services (PMS), all replacements and adjustments specified under PMS (such as oil filter, brake fluid, engine oil, etc.) and labour charges for PMS.

The regular billable services include sump plug gasket (Rs 48), filter engine oil (Rs 1246) and oil filter (Rs 409) costing a total of Rs 1703 (including all taxes). So the claimed Rs 1703 amount is for all the aforementioned services, which matched the actual cost of Rs 1702.6. Besides the regular maintenance, we have got wheel alignment with weight sticker and balancing done at a cost of Rs 663.18 (Rs 423.20 + Rs 239.98) and (Rs 529) respectively. So, it makes a total of Rs 1192.18.

New Ford Figo Service Bill

What further added in our second service bill were the wash fluid pouch (Rs 64.38) and replacement of right (Rs 196.19) and left (Rs 189.01) wiper blades, costing a total of Rs 449.58. So, our total service bill stands at Rs 3,345.02 (including all taxes). If we compare the new Ford Figo service cost with the Maruti Swift, the former makes a bargain. If we calculate the regular maintenance price of the new Figo, it costs about Rs 1703, which is slightly cheaper than the Maruti Suzuki Swift diesel.

“Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality”, we have heard this adage number of times, and Ford India has actually stand by it. Contrary to its old image (as an expensive brand), Ford has proved its accountability and dedication towards its customers by making services better, more affordable and convenient than ever before.
