Siwan Journalist Murder: Tej Pratap denies involvement; Supreme Court gives 3 months deadline to CBI

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete probe in the murder of Siwan (Bihar) Journalist Rajdev Ranjan in three months.

Siwan Journalist Murder: Tej Pratap denies involvement; Supreme Court gives 3 months deadline to CBI

New Delhi, Oct 17: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete probe in the murder of Siwan (Bihar) Journalist Rajdev Ranjan in three months. The Court has also stated that the accused shall not seek bail on the ground of non-filing of charge sheet in the murder case. Meanwhile, Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav admitted in the Supreme Court that he accepted bouquet from Siwan journalist murder accused but denied involvement.

Earlier, CBI had launched an operation to look for Mohammed Javed on Friday. Javed is another suspect in the murder of Siwan-based journalist Rajdeo Ranjan on May 13 this year. The agency had set up a camp office in Siwan where relatives of Javed were called to locate the alleged sharp shooter, agency sources said.(ALSO READ: Journalists give memorandum to Nitish Kumar on Siwan journalist killing)

Hindi daily Hindustan’s Siwan bureau chief Rajdev Ranjan (42) was shot dead at Phal Mandi near Siwan station, barely half a km away from Town police station in Julu. Police said the incident took place around 8 pm when two bullets hit Ranja- one on his forehead and the other, his neck.(ALSO READ: Journalist murder case suspect surrenders in Siwan court)

Prime suspect Mohammed Kaif was in judicial custody after he surrendered in a Siwan court on September 21. The CBI had registered a case in the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan on September 15 against unknown assailants. Sources said here that a special team of forensic experts from CFSL will soon be reaching Siwan to further the probe.
