After being adapted by over seven Indian languages, the international show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' will now see the fourth season of its Telugu adaptation -- 'Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu' (MEK) -- on Star TV Network's Maa TV.

The Telugu general entertainment channel (GEC) has got popular Telugu actor Chiranjeevi to host the fourth season of the show. The channel has started calling for entries from October 11 to October 18, wherein Telugu-speaking people can register.

The first three seasons of the show were hosted by popular Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna.

MEK has been one of the most popular programmes in the Telugu TV entertainment space and has witnessed phenomenal reach and success as the official Telugu adaptation of the internationally renowned game show format and Hindi game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).The theme of the season is 'Making the dreams win'. The show offers a cash prize of up to Rs 1 crore.

Kaun Banega Crorepati was launched in 2000. In June 2011, the Bengali version (Key Hobe Banglar Kotipoti) was launched on Mahua Bangla with cricketer Sourav Ganguly. About the same time, the Bhojpuri version (Key Bani Crorepati) was launched on Mahua hosted by actor Shatrughan Sinha.

The southern market witnessed the entry of the game show in 2012 when Vijay TV, another Star TV channel, adapted it for the Tamil market as Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi with Suriya, the Tamil superstar. Kannada was the next one to get the famous quiz show in the name of Kannadada Kotyadhipati (on Asianet Suvarna), which was hosted by actor Puneeth Rajkumar in March 2013. The first season of the Malayalam version was hosted by Malayalam movie star Suresh Gopi on Asianet in 2012 (Ningalkkum Aakaam Kodeeswaran).

MEK being the first launch of the property post Star's acquisition of Maa TV's business, the game show is all set to become even bigger with Chiranjeevi hosting a show on television first time ever.

Kevin Vaz, South CEO of Star India Private Limited, said, “MEK is a highly popular and proven show in the Telugu market, as much as it is in various international and India markets. It is the first big show being launched after Star TV took over Maa TV and we are pleased to be associated with Chiranjeevi as the host of the show.”

The channel expects the charisma and bonding that Chiranjeevi enjoys with the Telugu people to help take MEK show to newer heights. This show aims to reach and empower people from two Telugu-speaking states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana).

Alok Jain, Business Head, Maa TV, said, “MEK has always created great excitement among Telugu people. With this season we are all set to take MEK to the next level with multiple new things. I am sure that MEK, this season, will enthral the TV audience in both states of AP and Telangana.”

A multi-fold 360-degree media campaign will soon launch reaching every corner of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
