Newly-elected AMU women students union leaders highlight their problems

Aligarh: The newly elected leaders of AMU Women’s College Students Union highlighted the issues and problems being faced by the female students at AMU.

During the Installation Ceremony, the President elect, Naghma Shareef; Vice President elect, Farheen Sherwani; Secretary elect, Utba Israr Sheikh and ten other cabinet members pledged their oaths to perform to the best of their abilities and promised to adhere the rules and regulations here on Friday.

Ms Nagma Shareef, the President of the Women’s College students Union, empathised on the need of improvement in food facilities, availability of new books and personality development classes.

Vice President, Women’s College students Union, Ms Farheen Sherwani also demanded better living and infrastructural facilities along with fortification of the Abdullah Hall and prayer rooms in the Women’s College premises.

Secretary, Women’s College Students Union, Ms Utba Israr talked about the need for games facilities, appointment of new teachers; replacement of old books with new ones in the Women’s College Library, facilities of water coolers in the hostels and the campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah said: “For women empowerment in India, there is need of young leaders like the Women’s College Union members and there is no doubt that these Union members have all the qualities to become the torch-bearers.”
