Disclose VB findings in Hoshiarpur land scam, demands AAP
HOSHIARPUR: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) demanded the Punjab government on Sunday to disclose the findings of the vigilance bureau (VB) probe into the Hoshiarpur land scam that first hit the headlines in June this year.
Talking to newspersons on Sunday, AAP national council member Naveen Jairath added that the party would not compromise on its principles in case its candidate from Hoshiarpur, Paramjit Singh Sachdeva, who has been questioned by the VB in connection with the case, was indicted in the probe.

Jairath claimed that the VB had already completed its probe into the case and its file was lying either with the chief minister or his deputy. In the land scam, three local SAD leaders, their kin and property dealers had, in cahoots with government officials, managed to earn more than Rs 100 crore by purchasing land already notified for a road project.
“As names of local SAD leaders already figure in the scam and they had also been questioned by VB, we suspect that Punjab government would not let the probe reach a logical conclusion,“ Jairath said.
“Earlier, VB had informed the Punjab and Haryana high court that the probe was at its fag end, but nothing is known about the outcome of the probe to date,“ said Jairath.
Jairath admitted that the party had been facing questions over Sachdeva's name cropping up in the scam.“We want the probe to be concluded. If there is nothing against Sachdeva, his name should be cleared. We would be able campaign for him. However, in case he is indicted in the investigation, we are sure that AAP will not compromise on its principles,“ Jairath added.
