Indirapuram holds mega voter ID camp
Ghaziabad: A mega voter ID camp was organised by Consortium of Society, Ghaziabad at Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram in collaboration with the District Lokpal Office on Sunday. More than 250 people came to the camp from all around Indirapuram, Vaishali and parts of Kaushambhi. Residents who were struggling with delayed voter card authorisations were assured that this time they would get their voter IDs.
Fresh applictaions were also looked into.
“Indirapuram deals with a massive deficiency of electorally registered candidates. One important reason for this problem is the frequency of people relocating here which directly disables them from using their previous voter id cards,” said Neelu Chaudhary, a resident.
“The voter ID card is very important. I am 63 right now had moved to Indirapuram almost eight years ago. I have filed for an application for six times before this but to no avail. I have never received a reply,” said Girish Mehra, a resident.
Sharat Jha, president, Consortium of Societies, Ghaziabad when asked about the unsuccessful generation of voter id cards through the applications sent from similar camps before said, “Earlier we used to face challenges on the governmental end in processing the applications of the candidate. Sometimes in the collection of forms and during transportation, many of them used to get misplaced. Sometimes the officer at the district level rejected the forms.” But this time with the involvement of the District Lokpal Office, the voter IDs are likely to be issued soon, he added. The sub-divisional magistrate and the tehsildar visited the camp to ensure the delivery of results, Jha also said.
“We working for providing voter id cards to candidates but cannot provide a time guarantee for the completion,” said a District Lokpal Officer.
Another camp of a similar nature is due to happen Next Sunday at Vaibhav Park, Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.
