KR Market staff face 15-day salary cut for not clearing garbage

BENGALURU: Upset with the heaps of uncleared garbage in KR Market, mayor G Padmavathi ordered a 15-day cut salary cut for 50 persons responsible for not clearing the waste. An assistant engineer with BBMP was issued a showcause notice too. During an inspection on Friday, the mayor urged citizens, traders as well as Palike officials to ensure the market remains clean.
The mayor took exception to the unlit parking lot in the market area. She said, "For every one dysfunctional light, the official in-charge will have to pay Rs 1,000 fine. So either fix the lights or get ready to pay up."
