He hailed Congress’s decision to burn a “chhitta Raavan” effigy during the prime minister’s visit on October 18 in Ludhiana. He said the prime minister, who spoke against drug menace in his ‘Mann ki Baat’, should clear his stand on the patronage of politicians to liquor mafia.

Taking a dig at Modi, Jakhar said during Bihar poll campaign last year, Modi used to warn the people of “jungle raj” if the BJP was not voted to power. Now PM should explain “jungle Raj” in Punjab, he said.

Jakhar condemned the Akalis. “It is surprising that in spite of such a brutal killings of youth by mafia, Chief Minister and his Deputy did not get time to visit the victims’ family,” he said.

“Whenever there is any disturbance of law and order in Punjab, state home minister Sukhbir Badal goes out of state,” Jakhar claimed. He further said that in Punjab Police was politicised and they act only when their masters asked them to. He also said that when they will come into power they will streamline the liquor trade.
