Jind, October 15

Sixty cases of viral fever have been reported from Malvi village of Julana block in the district. Though villagers suspect chikungunya, doctors have said it was a viral fever due to seasonal change.

Dr Naresh Kumar Verma, Senior Medical Officer, Community Health Centre, Julana, said, “We have sent blood samples for medical examination to Government Hospital, Jind. We received some reports but there was no sign of chikungunya, malaria or dengue so it is clear that patients were suffering from common viral fever.”

About two recent deaths, Dr Verma said, “The 45-year-old man died of cardiac arrest and an 11-year-old boy died of fever. His family performed last rites without informing medical staff.”

He said medical teams were active. He said fogging was being done and the panchayat had been asked to report new cases.
