Navi Mumbai: Two days after Kamothe resident Abhishek Kachrekar (18) drowned in
Kamothe creek on Sion-Panvel highway, his body washed ashore at
Taloja.
On Friday night, Kachrekar was dumping floral waste into the creek from the bridge when he lost balance, fell into the water and drowned. For two days, firemen and local fishermen looked for the body, but failed.
“As there was a high tide, we suspected that the body would reach Taloja or Uran, depending on the current flow.
We had informed the police there to keep a lookout,” said senior police inspector Ashok Naik. “On Sunday, around 12.30pm, Taloja police informed us that a bloated and partially decomposed body had washed ashore. The teenager’s father
Anant Kacharekar identified him from the clothes.”
The Taloja police have registered an accidental death case and transferred it to the Kamothe police station.
