AHMEDABAD: On his second day of the Gujarat tour, AAP chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal faced protests on several fronts. Early on Saturday in Mehsana, the seat of the Patidar agitation and the home turf of PM Narendra Modi, a little-known Rashtriya Patidar Sangathan (RPS) followed Kejriwal, protesting against his recent statements on India's surgical strikes across the LOC.

A group that supports Anna Hazare, the Yuva Azadi in Ahmedabad, questioned Kejriwal's administration in Delhi, alleging that it lacked transparency. The RPS waved black flags during Kejriwal's visit to Unjha's Umiya Mata temple and shouted 'Pakistan Ratn Kejriwal wapas jao' (Kejriwal, the jewel of Pakistan, go back). The RPS followed the AAP chief to Kamli village too. After reaching Ahmedabad, Kejriwal said of the Mehsana protests: "Such protests are being orchestrated by the BJP national chief, Amit Shah. His days are over." Once in Ahmedabad by 4 pm, the Yuva Azadi group organized a protest in Bapunagar. Members of the group were detained for a few hours before Kejriwal was to visit the parents of a Patidar youth, Shwetang, who was killed in police custody during the agitation. In Vastral, some Sardar Patel Group (SPG) members were detained before Kejriwal's visit. SPG's Nachiket Mukhi said, "Kejriwal is not a Patidar supporter. He is wooing Patels for votes."Madhu Patel, a resident of Kailashdham Society, said that he had learnt from other residents that a few BJP workers had asked them not to meet Kejriwal. "We cannot ignore someone who is coming to meet us and hence the family met him," Patel said. Some residents even claimed that cops had asked them not to talk to media.
