On Saturday evening, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested six people suspected to have Naxal links and recovered weapons from their possession at Hindon Vihar in Noida’s Sector 49. The group was nabbed in a joint operation of ATS and while confirming the arrests UP IG Aseem Arun said that the group were adept at making bombs and were planning some incident in Delhi-NCR region.
Moreover, IS Aseem has also confirmed to ANI that three more Naxals have been arrested with explosives and detonators in Noida on Sunday morning.
Those arrested have been identified as Pawan Jharkhand of Madhubani in Bihar, Ranjit Paswan of Chandoli in UP, Sachin Kumar of Dankaur in Greater Noida, Krishna Kumar Ram from Sasaram in Bihar, and Suraj, a resident of Bulandshahr in UP. Suraj was the group’s local contact for conducting operations in the Delhi-NCR area, said sources.
According to sources, they are associated with a Naxal unit from Latehar in Jharkhand.
A senior police officer while talking about the arrests said, “One of those arrested had been on the run for nearly four years. He has links with some Naxalite attacks. After he was traced, the other were arrested from Hindon Vihar. Initial investigation reveals that they were living in the area for the last 2-3 months.”
