Government to constitute Haryana Safai Karmachari Aayog

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Saturday announced to constitute ‘Haryana Safai Karmachari Aayog’ in the state to look after the interest of safai karmacharis. While speaking at the state level Samrasta Divas Samaroh organised on the eve of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti at Jind Saturday, Khattar said that efforts would be made to ensure that 50 per cent contracts for sanitation are given to the people belonging to Valmiki Community.

He also announced Rs 21 lakh each for the construction of Valmiki Bhawan at Barara in Ambala and Karnal and Rs 21 lakh on behalf of Union Minister for Steel Birender Singh for the construction of Balmiki Bhawan in Narwana and recruitment of 1,000 new safai karmacharis in rural areas in the next two months besides increasing their salaries.

The CM announced to institute an award after the name of Dayanad Mayana, a freedom fighter and sangi belonging to Valmiki Community and informed that the new sports stadium in Sector-9, Jind, would be named after Eklavya.

Khattar said that the state government would also ensure that proper reservation policy is followed while recruitment in different departments through outsourcing. He said that a special recruitment drive would be launched to complete the backlog of vacant posts reserved for Scheduled Castes category in different department of the state within the next six months and assured that the state government would strongly plead the case regarding SC-A and SC-B in the Supreme Court.
