Ex-mukhiya killed in Gaya

GAYA: Rajindra Yadav (50), former mukhiya of Orwa panchayat under the Magadh Medical College police station area, was strangulated and both his eyes were gouged out Friday night.
Police sources said his body was recovered early Saturday morning. The deceased left his Kalihari village home on foot for some work late Friday evening. As he did not return till late night, family members started searching and found his body on the village outskirts.
DSP (law & order) Satish Kumar said no arrest had been made till Saturday evening. An FIR was being registered on the basis of the statement of family members and action would be taken on the basis of material evidence available in the case. Meanwhile, irate villagers blocked the Gaya-Cherki Road for more than three hours to protest against the killing. tnn
