NASHIK: Rupublican Party of India Athawale (RPI-A) National president and Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Ramdas Athawale, on Saturday, stated that the ‘Maratha-Dalit Aikya Rally’ which was scheduled to be held in Shirdi on October 19, has been postponed.
“The rally which was scheduled for October 19 stands postponed. New dates for the rally will be declared soon,” Athawale said, while interacting with reporters after his meeting with the RPI leaders and workers of Nashik division.
Athawale refused to comment much on the issue, but sources claimed that the decision of postponement of the rally was taken after receiving feedbacks from the cadre that the event would go failure if organized in the midst of ongoing Maratha Kranti Morchas across the state.
On September 24, Mahendra Shirke, president of RPI’s Maratha wing had announced that his party will conduct ‘Maratha Dalit Aikya Rally’ in Shirdi to ensure unity between Marathas and dalits. Athwale, who was in Nashik on Saturday took review of local workers and office bearers.
