Minor kidnapped, raped in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A three-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped by an unidentified man few metres away from her home in MIDC-Andheri on Thursday. The MIDC police found the accused who was seen walking away after committing the offence at around 9.40pm. Police said the survivor’s condition is stable after she was tracked down by her parents who went searching when few kids alerted them that someone has taken their daughter.
The survivor is the fourth child of a fruit vendor.
On Thursday night the survivor was playing outside her house situated in a chawl in Andheri (East). “The accused lured the survivor with chocolate when she was playing nearby her house. Few other kids present in the locality spotted the man taking the survivor behind a tempo, around 200 metres away, where he committed the offence,” said MIDC police senior inspector Shailesh Pasalwar.
In the complaint, the survivor’s parents said, “We came out to look for our daughter when we found her missing. We found our daughter crying from behind the parked tempo after few kids alerted us that a man took our daughter their.”
A case under the Indian Penal Code sections 363 (kidnap), 376 (rape) and under the POCSO Act section 4 (penetrative sexual assault on a child) against the unidentified accused. “We are going through the CCTV footage sought from the locality in which the accused was found taking the survivor behind a parked tempo in the locality and later walking away after committing the offence,” said the investigators.
