KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Manzoor Wassan has termed the shifting of four departments of the State Bank of Pakistan to Lahore a big conspiracy. “It is tantamount to the shifting of federal capital from Karachi to Islamabad and an example of making Punjab a state,” he said in a statement on Thursday. He added that shifting of the departments would cause huge loss to the trade and business of Karachi. “The authorities justified this move by stating that it was necessary for SBP’s progress but I ask them what is wrong with Karachi,” he asked. Wassan termed the situation as ‘external conspiracy,’ saying that these hidden hands want to make Punjab a country and other provinces its colonies. The Sindh government would resist the transfer of the SBP units to Lahore, he said. “If the federal government does not withdraw its decision, we along with the business community of Karachi will strongly protest against it,” he said.
