BHOPAL: A couple from Mandideep town of Raisen district has alleged that their newborn child has been swapped at Sultania Hospital of the city on Thursday night.
As per a complaint lodged with the police, Mahesh Vishwakarma's wife was admitted to Sultania Hospital at 4 pm after she had labour pains and their family was informed around 7.30 pm that she delivered a male child. But, after sometime, the hospital staff handed over a female child to the woman, police said, citing the complaint.
"We received the complaint at midnight and started investigations into the matter. The allegations are serious. Police personnel were sent to the hospital immediately, but the duty officers at hospital changed by that time and therefore their statements could not be recorded," CSP Kotwali, Gopal Singh Dhakad, told TOI.
