City corporation authorities plan to renovate the Mananchira, which is one of the major parks situated in the heart of the city.

KOZIKODE: City corporation authorities plan to renovate the Mananchira, which is one of the major parks situated in the heart of the city. The major renovation works is planned under the union government funded Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban transformation (AMRUT) scheme through its component of developing green space.
Under the scheme, the civic body will utilise Rs 85 lakh for the development of green space and parks.
At present, lack of regular maintenance at Mananchira, has resulted in the dilapidated condition of the park. According to the corporation officials, the civic body had carried out the renovation of thirteen parks during the previous council's term. Majority of the people from all parts of the corporation and from outside the civic body limits have been thronging in large numbers to spend leisure time at Mananchira Square and Sarovaram bio-park. The parks at the Gotheeswaram park at Beypore, Malaparamba, Thadamabattuthazham, Karuvissery, Anasari park, Puthiyanirathu and Kundungal were being used by the people residing in the nearby areas of the parks.
Town planning standing committee chairman M C Anil Kumar said the civic body has already submitted a detailed project report to the state level AMRUT scheme committee for the approval.
