Former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said players should be disciplined and show sportsman spirit on the ground. Addressing over 500 footballers gathered to take part in the 18th Football Tournament of the Centre Board of School Education (CBSE) cluster at the NIT ground today, Dhumal said it was a proud moment for him that players from Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana and UT Chandigarh had come to his hometown. Welcoming the students and their teachers, he said sporting events helped one stay healthy and also inculcated discipline, confidence and sense of competition among the players. He said football was a team game. “If a player scores a goal, his entire team has to be credited,” the former chief minister said. As many as 32 teams are participating in the tournament.
