Jitendar Negi lifts half marathon trophy

MUSSOORIE: Jitendar Negi won the Run for Mussoorie – half marathon and cross-country race – that was organised in the memory of James Palter, father of the cine artist Tom Alter, under the aegis of the Nand Kishore Bamboo Sports Association and the Mussoorie Cricket Association at Garhwal Terrace here today.

Jitendar Negi won the Run for Mussoorie – half marathon and cross-country race – that was organised in the memory of James Palter, father of the cine artist Tom Alter, under the aegis of the Nand Kishore Bamboo Sports Association and the Mussoorie Cricket Association at Garhwal Terrace here today. Negi represented Garhwal Rifles.

He took one hour and 51 seconds to cover the distance to lift the coveted trophy. The second and third places were bagged by Garhwal Rifles runners were Sunil Panwar and Trilok Singh. Ravi Pant from the Kotdwar Sports Stadium was declared fourth while Mukul Chaudhry from Public School Bijnaur stood fifth.

Besides, there were categories of 3 km, 6 km and 11 km for boys and girls. Vikas Rawat from St Lawrence, Ankit Raunchela and Shubham Rawat of Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Naresh Uniyal from Divya Bharti School and Deepak Kumar from RN Bhargav Inter College stood first, second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3 km category. In the girls’ section of the same event, Simran Panwar and Priyanka from St Lawrence, Pavna from Sanatan Dharm Inter College, Sakshi Bisht of Saraswati Sishu Mandir won accolades.

In the 6-km category for boys, Ranjit and Krishna from St Lawrence stood first and second, and Praveen from Nirmala Inter College stood third. In girls’ category, Nishita Shah (St Lawrence), Pooja Mishrawan (Nirmala Inter College) and Anita Kumari (Sishu Mandir) were the first, second and third, respectively.

In the 11 km race for boys, Vikram Ramola and Manjeet Panwar of Nirmala Inter College stood first and second, and Kamal Shah (Ghananand) stood third.

In the veteran cross-country race in 6 km category, Rajkumar and Manoj from the Lal Bhadur Shastri National Academy stood first and second, respectively, while Tejpal Negi from Landour Mussoorie stood third.
