European Tour officials are looking into reports of a rocket attack in Antalya three weeks before the Turkish Airlines Open.

Turkish media reported on Friday that two rockets had been fired from close to a highway connecting Antalya with Kemer.

The claims are a concern for the Tour so close to the first of its Final Series events, scheduled to be held at the Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort in Antalya from November 3-6.

Rory McIlroy is among those due to play, although Tiger Woods has shelved his planned appearance.

A spokesperson for the European Tour said: "As a matter of priority, we are currently investigating today's incident in the Antalya region with our security consultants and local authorities. We will update further as soon as possible."

Turkey has been rocked by a wave of bomb attacks since last summer that have killed hundreds of people and been blamed on either the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) or the Islamic State group.
