UA jersey tour: ESPN 300 OT Kai-Leon Herbert

Offensive tackle Kai-Leon Herbert received his Under Armour All-America Game jersey Thursday in a presentation sponsored by American Family Insurance at American Heritage High in Plantation, Fla.

“It is a dream come true,” said Herbert. “This is something you dream about when you’re in little league! This is honestly just a prayer answered to me and my family! My teammates and coaching understand how big this is. This means a lot to my team as a whole as well.”

The nation's No. 109-ranked prospect committed to Michigan in July over Florida and Miami with the feeling of a near perfect fit.

“I picked the University of Michigan because not only is the football aspect amazing the school and campus life fit me. I feel the coaches are looking in my best interest, and it is just an amazing opportunity I felt me and my family could not pass up. The University of Michigan is a home away from home I would say, there's a lot of other reasons that factor into this but this is a basis.”

While Herbert remains verbally committed to the Wolverines, he has made unofficial visits to Miami and Florida this season, and is a strong possibility to make official visits as well.

Five questions with Kai-Leon Herbert:

What players are you looking forward to competing with or against at the Under Armour All America game?

"Competing with I would have to say Cesar Ruiz, Alex Leatherwood, Jedrick Willis, Robert Haniesy, and more. Competing against I would say Joshua Kaindoh, Greg Rogers, and more."

What is your earliest football memory?

"My very first practice, I remember me putting on my cleats and just running around the field before practice with my cousins. I remember the smell of football grass and just how excited I was to play the sport."

If you could take on any professional athlete in their sport, who would it be and why?

"It would be Tyron Smith, so I can watch him in person, get some tips, and just get a better understanding for my position."

What number do you wear, and why?

"I wear the number 57, it is just the way I see it. When I look at that number it just suits me, it was my second number in little league and I just decided to stick with it when I got to American Heritage and I just love it."

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

"I used to want to be a skateboarder before football!"

The 2017 Under Armour All-America Game will be played on January 1 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., on ESPN with practices televised on ESPNU during the week.
