Stop KKNPP expansion now: PMANE asks India, Russia

Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Oct 14 (UNI) The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE), a civil group spearheading the struggle against Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) today demanded India and Russia to stop the expansion of the nuclear project.

“We (PMANE) demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin stop the KKNPP expansion right away and take the people of India, especially the people of Tamil Nadu and Kerala into confidence by sharing the Site Evaluation Report, Safety Analysis Report, Emergency Preparedness Report and all other public documents with regard to the first two reactors and the expansion programs, before they go ahead with their authoritarian and undemocratic nuclear power project,” PMANE Convener S P Udayakumar said in a statement here.
