Rafinha backs Joshua Kimmich, Renato Sanches at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich defender Rafinha has told teammate Joshua Kimmich "there's no place for you at right-back" and also revealed he is mentoring new signing Renato Sanches.

Asked about rising star Kimmich's rich vein of form for club and country, Rafinha, 31, told Spox: "He's a top quality player and I'm pleased he played so well at Euro 2016. I like him a lot and he knows that.

"But I immediately told him: There's no place for you at right-back. You can enjoy playing there for Germany but Philipp [Lahm] and I are here at Bayern."

The twice-capped Brazilian is in his sixth season with the German Champions and is helping the Golden Boy contender Sanches find his feet in Bavaria.

"Renato's made a great impression. He is a great young person and a good player," he said.

"He sits next to me in the changing rooms and I'm trying my best to help him. I definitely see that as one of my responsibilities.

"Portuguese is my native language so it's only natural that I support him as he settles in. I haven't showed him around the city yet, but if he has questions he can always come to me.

"He still needs time to settle but I'm sure that he'll play an important role at Bayern Munich in the future in tandem with Kimmich.

"It's especially useful for these young players to play together with the best in their position -- that only makes them stronger in the future."

According to Rafinha, "team spirit is super and we're like a family," but he refuted claims that the Bavarians were a happier side under Pep Guardiola's successor, Carlo Ancelotti.

"I've always had fun whether playing for Jupp [Heynckes], Pep or now with Carlo.

"In my opinion, there aren't any major differences. We get on brilliantly as was always the case. Everyone's got their own view but we had equally as much fun under Pep."
