Jamshedpur: Following a massive response last year, Western Union on Thursday announced to supply
electricity to 15 more villages across India, including Baradih and Piparadih villages of Chandwara blocks of
Koderma district.
The company, which is a leader in global payment services, adopted the aforesaid villages of the state to provide solar panel-powered electricity in collaboration with TERI (The
Energy and Resources Institute).
Western Union will contribute up to Rs 100 for each transaction received from the USA, UK, UAE, France, Italy, among other 10 odd foreign countries between October 1 and November 1 this year. The company will contribute a minimum of Rs 20 lakh and maximum of Rs 30 lakh for the project.
"Last year, with the support of TERI, 15 villages in Bihar, AP and UP received electricity and among them, many were the first to receive electricity," the company said in a press statement.
