BHOPAL: A 40-year-old tribal was mauled to death by a Bandhavgarh tiger in Umeria district on Wednesday. Forest officials have assured proper compensation to the deceased's family.
However, the incident has triggered a panic in the locality. Local residents claim more than 12 people have been killed by the tigers in the last two years. In 2014, a school teacher died after being attacked by a tiger in Khitoli area of Bandhavgarh National Park in Katni district, leading to violent protests by villagers who went on a rampage, setting the forest range office and nine houses ablaze.
