Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh’s public outburst against an SHO has failed to make any impact as the district police have refused to take action in the absence of any complaint.

Daljinder Singh Dhillon, SSP said: “We cannot act on assumptions. We need concrete evidence against him. Otherwise the matter is deemed to be closed.”

Amarinder had verbally complained to officers present there against the SHO’s “misdemeanours.” Randhawa said: “Scores of villagers have already submitted their complaints to the senior officers.”

The SSP clarified that Manjit Singh had not deliberately absented himself. “He is suffering from chikungunya and is under treatment at his residence. Anybody can get this fact confirmed,” he said. Randhawa claimed that the SHO was well aware of Amarinder’s visit following which he willfully remained absent.
