Lucknow: An elderly woman who had gone to
Civil Hospital in
Hazratganj to collect medicines was robbed of her belongings on Thursday. The 62-year-old woman could take an auto-rickshaw to reach home only after a policeman at the local outpost lent her Rs 10.
Resident of Jiyamau, Reena Pandey's husband retired from state's forest department and needs medicine every month. On Thursday morning, Reena was waiting in a queue for her turn at the pharmacy.
She had a carry bag with documents and a clutch purse. When her wait come to an end, she realized her purse and doctor's prescription were gone. "Somebody had cut open the base of my carry bag and removed all items," she said.
Her purse contained Rs 3,500 apart from papers. Reena went to
Park Road police outpost to report the matter. Sub-inspector
K N Tiwari there said close circuit cameras installed at the hospital don't work. "It is difficult to make out who these criminals are as victims are generally unable to give any description. We will depute some people in plainclothes to trap the miscreants," said Tiwari. He then gave her Rs 10 so that she could return home.
