SURAT: Passengers travelling in Rajdhani Express from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizzamuddin are unhappy. From the last few months, the railways has removed pantry cars from the trains, causing trouble for the passengers, especially kids on board. Member of Passenger Service Committee (PSC), ministry of railway, has urged the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to provide two pantry cars in the Rajdhani Express originating from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizzamuddin.

Rakesh Shah, a lone PSC member from Gujarat has written a letter to Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu highlighting the plight of the passengers, especially the kids, travelling in the 2A and 3A coaches of Rajdhani Express due to lack of food, water, milk and snacks facilities offered in the coaches.
Shah said that the passengers have been facing difficulties from the last few months after the railway division decided to remove pantry cars from the Rajdhani Express. Earlier, there used to be two pantry cars in Rajdhani express attached with 1A and 3A coaches. From the last few months, one pantry car attached to 3A coaches in both the trains have been removed due to some unknown reasons.
The passengers travelling from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizzamuddin towards Mumbai have been provided food and breakfast from Kota and Vadodara railway stations. The food is prepared well in advance and till it reaches the passengers travelling in the coaches, it gets cold and sometimes stale.
Shah told TOI, "The quality of food supplied from Kota and Vadodara stations is not hygienic, because it is prepared hours in advance. If the passengers travelling 3A coaches in Rajdhani requires something, it takes long time for the attendees to get the stuff from pantry car in 1A coach, which is located 16 coaches away".
