In a way,
Arun Mandola’s life has been a long ‘workshop’ preparing him for the role of
Lakshman in '
Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanumaan'. Born into a lower middle-class family, the actor studied in a gurukul, as his parents couldn’t afford the fee of a normal school. He then pursued graduation in Sanskrit and MA in Astrology. Arun says, “Like Lord Ram and Lakshman, I too studied in a gurukul, where I was taught the Vedas and Puranas.”
The road to becoming an actor wasn’t a cakewalk for him.
He had his share of ‘vanvas’ as he had to put his dream on the back burner and became an astrologer to support his family. He recalls, “I pursued astrology to share the load with my father. I shifted to Mumbai after the situation at home improved.”
His stars finally shone bright in June this year, when he received a call to play
Sugreev in 'Hanumaan'. “I couldn’t believe when they selected me to play Lakshman instead of Sugreev,” he concludes.
