Abducted youth rescued from Bulandshahr
NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old youth, Firoz Khan, who was abducted from outside his house in south-east Delhi’s Khijrabad by a group of five men, was rescued by police from a village near Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
The abductors — Sajid, Hilal, Salman, Ashlam, and Rizwan — had demanded Rs 18 lakh as ransom for Khan’s release. Salman was arrested, while the others are absconding.
According to police, a kidnapping complaint was filed by Khan’s brother, Mehboob, at the New Friends Colony police station.
Mehboob said that he and his brother worked as labour agents in a private company. He told officers that they allegedly had some financial dispute with one sub-agent, Rizwan.
According to Mehboob, on October 6, Rizwan, along with four of his accomplices, came to the office at 5pm and started beating Khan. They then forcefully took him to Bulandshahr in a car.
After roaming around for some time, they called up Mehboob and demanded ransom of Rs 18 lakh. During investigation, mobile phone surveillance revealed the location of the abductors and a police team reached Bulandshahr.
“During scrutiny of call details, their location was traced to Murgav Pur village. A team led by SHO Kuldeep Singh conducted a raid at the house of Sajid’s sister, but by that time the abductors had left the place,” said Romil Baaniya, DCP, south-east.
Later, the team conducted a late night raid at Rizwan’s house at Sabdal Pur village, from where Khan was rescued.
Salman’s interrogation revealed that the accused wanted money for their visit to Dubai and had chalked out a plan to abduct Khan as his father had landed with a new contract job to supply labourers to a private company.
