Cops held man for killing his wife for Rs 2500
Mumbai: The Santacruz police on Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old unemployed man for stabbing his wife to death over a petty issue. The incident occurred on October 11 at their house in chawl in Santacruz (West) when Santosh Ambawale fought with his wife Sushma (29) when she fought with him for stealing Rs2500 that she has saved to pay the dues for the second hand television set she has purchased.

The victim worked as a domestic help while the accused occasionally worked as house-keeping in small hotels. "The case was detected within 24 hours after Ambawale went hiding in the neighbourhood after stabbing his wife with a kitchen knife. The external injury is small but she succumbed due to severe internal bleeding," said Santacruz police senior inspector Shantanu Pawar.
Ambawale has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section for murder. He is in police custody till October 17.
