BREAKING! Bollywood photographer Jagdish Aurangabadkar commits suicide!

Mumbai, October 13: Veteran Bollywood photographer Jagdish Aurangabadkar committed suicide today at his residence in Goregaon in the city. Film journalists were shocked to hear about the suicide and receive WhatsApp messages about the same, not believing it initially. But it is confirmed that the 65-year-old film photographer committed suicide on Thursday. Jagdish Aurangabadkar aka Jagdish Kamble reportedly ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling. He died between 9 am to 12.30 pm. Jagdish Aurangabadkar had been staying alone since his wife and son left him a year ago over a property dispute. The deceased hanged himself between 9 am and 12.30 pm, and the separation or property could be the reason but it is not clear yet.  The Vanrai police found out six envelopes containing suicide letters in different languages addressed to Aurangabadkar’s friends, thanking them for supporting him through tough times, reports The Times of India. An organ donation letter was also found. The police said that Jagdish Aurangabadkar ended his life after chatting with his nephew before 9 am on Thursday.

Jagdish Aurangabadkar had even acted in a Bollywood movie, ironically as a hangman, in the film Pukar. The police said the suicide incident came to light after a restaurant delivery boy went to deliver food around 12.30 pm at Jagdish Aurangabadkar’s home at Aakruti Society in JP Nagar, Goregaon (East). Since the doorbell was not answered, the delivery boy tried opening the door and found it unlocked. He found Jagdish Aurangabadkar hanging in the balcony and alerted the society. “As routine, a hotel from the neighbourhood sent a parcel through the 22-year-old hotel staffe. On reaching the deceased flat, the delivery boy first rang the doorbell. When he did not get response, he pushed the flat door and found it unlocked. He stepped in and found Aurangabadkar hanging in the balcony of the hall,” said the police, according to TOI.

“The six envelopes containing letters which are a suicide notes directed to his friends do not alleged or complained about any person for his act. The letters praised those persons who supported him during his tough times financially and work wise too,” TOI quotes a police officer as saying. Many photographs of the film photographer appeared in TOI over the years.

Senior police inspector Chandrakant Gurav confirmed the incident to the daily. Our condolences to the family of Jagdish Aurangabadkar. (Seen in photo: Jagdish Aurangabadkar with Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna | Photo courtesy of Jagdish Aurangabadkar Facebook.)
