Prof. Mimi Zou of CUHK Law named as an Asia 21 Young Leader for Contribution to Advancing the Rule of Law across Asia

Asia 21, the pre-eminent network of young leaders under the age of forty from the Asia-Pacific, recently announced its members of the Class of 2016. Prof. Mimi Zou, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), is one of the 32 rising professionals from 24 countries representing the private, public, and non-profit sectors in this year’s class.

Asia 21 is an initiative of the Asia Society, a global non-profit organisation founded by John D. Rockefeller, III, who sought to create an institution that would build bridges between the US and Asia through arts, education, policy and business outreach. The Asia Society has a strong presence in Hong Kong.

As stated in Asia 21’s press release: “The 2016 class was selected through a highly competitive process based on outstanding achievement, commitment to public service, and a proven ability to make the world a better place.” Asia 21’s alumni are recognised leaders representing a diversity of professional backgrounds, which include political figures, media personalities, award-winning filmmakers and private sector executives.

Prof. Zou is currently Associate Director of the Centre for Rights and Justice and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law at CUHK. She also serves as a senior consultant to the International Labor Organization and is a practicing lawyer admitted in England & Wales and New South Wales, Australia. Prior to joining CUHK,

Prof.Zou taught at the University of Oxford, Utrecht University, and the University of Sydney. She also previously worked in law firms, financial institutions, the public sector and NGOs in Asia and Europe for over 13 years. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy and Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford. Prof. Zou will join members of the Class of 2016 at the Asia 21 Summit this December in Seoul to share best practices in leadership and develop public service projects.
