PUNE: German auto component maker, Tristone Flowtech, recently set up base in India with its first plant in Chakan. Tristone primarily makes engine cooling products.

"We were looking to expand our operations and many of our customers from India were asking us to produce the products locally. Seeing the demand, we then began our research for the right location, which had to be an automobile hub. And finally, we decided to build the plant in Chakan," said Guenter Froelich, Group CEO, TristoneFlowtech Group.

Many German automakers like Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz have also have their India operations in Pune.

"The turnover of the company for 2015 was 228 million Euros and the target for this year is 250 million. We are willing to invest 2.5 million Euros in the near future. The FDI policy has been very positive so far and we haven't had any constraints in entering the Indian market. As foreign investors, we in fact are quite attracted to initiate business in India," Froelich added.

The company has nine manufacturing facilities worldwide, and Chakan will be the company's 10th plant worldwide and first in India. The plant, the company said, will be fully operational from August 2017.
