Irrfan Khan is one of the few Bollywood actors who has been on the rise on global platforms. While Bollywood spares no time to applaud Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra whenever there are set to perform on the international platform, they tend to forget Irrfan Khan who has been doing so for quite some time in films such as Slumdog Millionaire, Life Of Pi, Jurassic Park, The Amazing Spiderman and now Inferno.
In Bollywood, however, Irrfan Khan manages to see a rise in the box office only if the film has faces of other popular stars, like Amitabh Bachchan (Piku), Shah Rukh Khan (Billu Barber) and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Jazbaa) to name a few. Internationally, however, the actor received even a lot of praises for his role in Inferno.
Many of the international media has referred his previous Hollywood project, Jurassic Park for a better recognition. While Sully actor, Tom Hanks surprisingly recieved silly reviews, Irrfan Khan shone on his own.
“Even so, there’s just time for Irrfan Khan (Jurassic World) to have some fun (nice to see someone enjoying themselves, at least) with his shady Provost character who sweeps in to explain away great gaps of plot, the plodding unpicking of which we then have to sit through, again, reminding us just how ridiculously dull the past two hours have indeed been.” – The Wrap
“Although some of the film’s many twists are not that surprising, they’re satisfyingly delivered, and with a strong supporting cast that also includes Sidse Babett Knudsen (HBO’s Westworld), Ben Foster (Hell or High Water), Irrfan Khan (Jurassic World) and Omar Sy (The Intouchables), plus striking dream imagery, this adds up to arguably the best in the franchise so far. Admittedly, that’s not a high bar to jump, but Inferno should reserve a place in the paradise of year-end high earners.” – The Hollywood Reporter
” The increasing prominence of quality international actors like Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen, Westworld) and the ever-twinkling Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi, Jurassic World) makes for a much smoother ride” – IGN
All over critics seemed quite disappointed with Ron Howard’s Inferno. The film is set to release in India two weeks ahead of US release date.
Both Irrfan Khan and Sony Pictures now see India as a market with potential for international releases.
