The designer, who is known for her feminine silhouettes and simple yet elegant designs, feels happy to have experimented with Chanderi for this edition.

New Delhi: With FDCI's Amazon India Fashion Week in the capital, the fashion is officially back in the business. Well-known designer Anita Dongre, who presented her collection in the opening show Road to Chanderi along with 15 other designers, feels that every modern girl should possess an Indian handloom.

“I think every young girl in India should make it a point to own some handloom pieces as part of her wardrobe every season”, she said while speaking to News18.com.

The designer, who is known for her feminine silhouettes and simple yet elegant designs, feels happy to have experimented with an age-old fabric this season. She also believes that her modish touch to gold will resonate with young women. “Gold never goes out of fashion, it is timeless!”

“Chanderi is a versatile fabric. It blends itself with clothes extremely well. It’s simply beautiful”, the designer added.

Talking about trends for the festive season, she stressed on how to mix and match and even how to make a combination of old and new this Diwali. “I’ve done a skirt, dress and jackets. We’ve shown you 3 garments from our collection on the ramp. I’ve played with a lot of versatile separates this time, so it’s easier for women to choose”.

When asked about the must-haves from her collection, she immediately responded, “Chanderi jacket with gota-pati work and the gold skirt have been done in a modern way. These are some definite additions to any fashionista’s wardrobe this season”.

The designer further shared some tips to help you design your Diwali outfit and advised one to make a combination of old and new. “For Diwali, you could take a gold jacket and wear it with a sari you’ve already worn. You could also take a skirt and wear it with a nice choli. So, you can easily use a mix of worn-and-new outfits this time. Dress it up or dress it or down; your choice.”
