Gianluca Zambrotta, the head coach of Delhi Dynamos has said that he will try his best to get Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to India before he finishes his career.
In an exclusive interview with Indian Express, the former Barcelona and Italy man said “Given his fan following in India, I think Zlatan would want to come and end his career here. On my end, I will definitely try and convince him to play for Delhi Dynamos”.

The two had been teammates at Juventus for two years (2004-2006) when the Swede joined the Italian giants from Ajax. The duo helped the Turin side to the Serie A title in both the years, which was later revoked due to the Calciopoli scandal, and Juventus later relegated to Serie B.

Zambrotta, a World Cup winner with Italy in 2006, thought that the crowd support and the calibre of players coming to play in ISL, combined with the Indian talent on show, can slowly but surely propel the ISL to become one of the top Leagues in the World.
“India will soon be a big destination for international football. Given the level of competitiveness in the Indian Super League and the quality of Indian players, I am sure it will be amongst the top five football leagues in the world in the next decade” he said.
Zambrotta side, Delhi Dynamos who are co-owned by GMS Inc. who also happen to own English Premier League side West Brom are fourth in the Indian Super League, after winning one and drawing their other game. Zambrotta has already made his influence felt, introducing a tactical side of the game which is very ‘Italian’ as described by Ghanian International David Addy.
For Zlatan Ibrahimovic though, his hands seem to be full at the moment. After starting his Manchester United career with a bang, he has tailed off a bit in the last couple of games. Since his retirement from International football, he would have had the last couple of weeks to gather his wits.
Manchester United take on Liverpool in the English Premier League on Monday, which is the first of three games that the Red Devils play in the short span of six days. Here’s hoping he does well in those games, and when he thinks it’s finally time to hang up those famous boots, he has a foray in India.
