Threatening' Congmen to join SAD will cost you: Capt to SHO

KOTLI SURAT MALHI (GURDASPUR): Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday warned a station house officer (SHO) in Gurdaspur district against alleged persecution of party workers.
Talking to newspersons, Amarinder said he had received numerous complaints from local party workers alleging that Kotli Surat Malhi SHO Manjit Singh was threatening them and asking to join Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).
Amarinder is on a doorto-door meeting with people in the area of Fatehgarh Churian, Dera Baba Nanak and Batala in Gur daspur.
“I have warned all such police offi Of cials. I will use the spe cial powers vested in the govern ment under Article 311 of the Constitution to dismiss all of them in case they do not mend their ways,“ he said, adding that he would initiate stringent action against them once the Congress was in power. “I did it in 2002 and I will do it again in case the cops do not mend their ways,“ he said.
SHO Manjit was not present in the police station during the visit of Amarinder. Amarinder reiterated that he wouldn't let anyone get away with the persecution of his party workers.He was accompanied by De ra Baba Nanak MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
Congress workers who had gathered at the police station told him that a few police officers had let lose a reign of terror on Congress workers. Besides, they also alleged that the police officials were patronizing drug trade also.
The PPCC president also spoke to one of the senior police officers over phone and conveyed his strong displeasure over the way the SHOs, especially of Kotli Surat Malhi, had been treating Congress workers.
He said, “Police officials will act partisan at their own risk. It is a matter of only four more months when Congress will be in power and they will be accountable for all their sins of omission and commission.“
