Alva's Education Foundation along with Manipuri students from Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology, and students of its sister institutions celebrated 'Ningol Chakkouba,' a premier festival of Manipur, at AIET Hall, Mijar.
Dr Nara Singh, former Manipur minister and executive board member of
North East Zone Cultural Centre said, "Politics divide people whereas culture upholds unity among mankind.
Education should nourish such cultural activities and 'Culture for peace' should be everyone's slogan."
Presiding over the function, Alva's Education Foundation trustee Vivek Alva said, "Youths are the future of a nation. They must be nurtured in a cohesive environment."
Prizes were distributed among achievers in various fields of education, sports, cultural in national and international platforms. Manipuri students performed Maibi dance, Shol chollon, stick dance, dasa avatar and Kabui dance on this occasion.
Delicious food cooked by students consisting of meat items and other traditional dishes of Manipur such as iromba, champhut and kanghou were served in the feast that followed.
