Wadala residents nab chain snatcher; 50-yr-old recovers stolen gold chain

A chain snatcher was nabbed by the public and handed over to the Wadala TT police on Monday night. Also, a 50-year-old woman found the 11gram gold chain that was thrown by the accused while he was being nabbed by the public.

According to the Wadala TT police, the accused, Ayub Khan (21) was caught on Monday by the residents when he was snatching a gold chain.

“The first incident of chain snatching took place on Sunday in the same area. Because of this, the residents were alerted. So, on Monday when Khan snatched the gold chain, he was nabbed by the public. We are not sure if both incidents were carried out by Khan,” a police source said.

Following the arrest, the police were unable to recover the 11 gram gold chain.

API, Prakash Linge, said, “Khan has admitted that he had thrown the chain while being chased by the public. But, we had failed to retrieve it despite several searches.”

On Tuesday, a 50-year-old woman, Kusum Gunde, found the 11gram gold chain in the bushes and handed it over to the police.

Sushil Kamble, senior police inspector of Wadala TT police station, said, “We will soon felicitate Kusum for finding and handing over the gold chain.”
