2 boys feared drowned in lake near Katraj

"Till 7pm we carried out the search, but failed to trace the boys. We will begin the search on Thursday again," said an officer from the fired brigade.

PUNE: Two minor boys, who had gone for a swim at a lake in Gujarwadi near Katraj, were feared drowned on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pune fire brigade carried out search to trace the boys, identified as Yash Balwadkar (15) and Prashant Dhindale (13) of Nimbalkar Vasti in Haveli, till late evening.
The Bharati Vidyapeeth police said since Wednesday was a holiday, both the boys with four of their friends visited Gujarwadi for a swim at a lake around four kilometre from their houses Nimbalkar Vasti.

Around 12.30pm, their friends came out of the water body while Yash and Prashant stayed inside. "Soon, both the boys started drowning. Their friends ran to Nimbalkar Vasti and alerted parents of both the boys. Before they could reach the lake, the boys had already drowned," police said.
The fire brigade began the search operation around 1.30pm.
"Till 7pm we carried out the search, but failed to trace the boys. We will begin the search on Thursday again," said an officer from the fired brigade.
