A small group, claiming to be the only true Christian believers, has disclosed it uses live animal sacrifice as burnt offerings in its worship.

The Nakasi-based Kingdom of God and His Righteousness uses the old Biblical practice where virgin lambs, goats or calves are killed before being burned.

It was killing these animals until recently, when members claimed their leader saw a vision which said they could use live and frozen chickens as substitutes.

The group of about 50 members was established in 1999 by a Litia Cadranasiga Tilatadraki at Natabua, Lautoka.

They recently moved to Drekewaila, Wainibuku Rd, Nakasi, near Nausori.

According to church member, Eseta Gonewai, 39, Ms Tilatadraki was anointed by the Holy Spirit and this denomination was being revealed to her in her sleep.

She was told to start a prayer session based on the 10 commandments. The commandments were written on a piece of white sheet, and raised as a flag.

“We also have a covenant box, containing the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, it also contained Aaron’s rod and a pot of manna, when we go out for mission or outreach we carry the covenant box along, we also make burning sacrifices on the altar,” she said.

Mrs Gonewai said the altar was where three separate piles of wood burned on top of each other.

The largest of these was where all the portions of the sacrifices were burned; the second fire provided the coals for the Altar of Incense within the sanctuary, and the third was the “perpetual fire” which constantly burned on the altar. Nothing was placed on it, and no coals were taken from it.

It existed solely to fulfill the commandment that there be a perpetual fire.

She added that part of the portions of sacrifices is grain offering as on Leviticus2:1-3.

Mrs Gonewai said: “We will sit and face altar while it is burning and we will be singing praises and prayers.

“We don’t belong to any church. This is a small prayer group.

“We have discerning spirit and we can discern if someone is coming for the need of prayers. We also heal the sick, cancer, strokes you name it.

“Churches of these days are in their comfort zones, we don’t do that we go out and preach the word even if people hate us, we are doing the will of God to Go forth and preach his word.”

The members do not believe in baptism.

Baptism is through the Holy Spirit and Holy Fire.

So baptism is through your own individual prayers to the Lord.

“We need to submit our own self to God we don’t need to be baptised in water like many others do. It’s you and the Lord,” said Mrs Gonewai.

The group does sacrifices three times a day every day.
