BJP’s band of 250 to spread govt schemes
MUMBAI: With an eye on the upcoming local body polls, BJP is launching a Mukhyamantri Mitra Abhiyan, under which it has chosen and trained over 250 people from across the state to promote government schemes and to act as a link between the government and the masses.
A BJP minister said one-year contracts have been signed with these people and they have been trained in all public welfare schemes announced by the government.
“They will have to promote the schemes and enrol people. In case of public grievance, they can coordinate with the local administration to get work done,” the minister added.
Officials in the chief minister’s office said applications for these posts were called online, and people from all walks of life including doctors, lawyers, teachers and even social workers, applied. Candidates were selected after verification of credentials and an interview.
